Understanding the Need for Alcohol Rehab in DeLand

DeLand alcohol rehab centers are integral in helping many Florida residents overcome their alcohol use disorder. Addiction is a serious disease that, in many cases, takes intensive treatment to overcome. Alcohol use disorder is especially difficult, because in our society alcohol use has been normalized, and in some social settings is encouraged.

At WhiteSands, we help those with alcohol addictions to safely detox, then work through a personalized treatment plan that will help them overcome withdrawal symptoms, heal the underlying causes of addiction, and work toward a healthier, sober future. We offer high-quality care in our luxury treatment center, with science-backed therapies combined with holistic care for a proven whole-patient approach to healing.

Choosing the Right Alcohol Rehab Facility in DeLand

alcohol rehab DeLand

When choosing alcohol rehab, DeLand residents may want to focus on factors like:

  • Accreditation and licensing of the facility and its staff
  • The levels of care offered
  • Whether they provide medical detox and long-term medication management if needed
  • The types of therapies offered, and whether they are evidence-based and scientifically backed
  • The location of the treatment center
  • Whether they are in-network with their insurance provider
  • What types of additional amenities are offered

Inpatient vs. Outpatient Rehab: What DeLand Residents Need to Know

The biggest difference between inpatient and outpatient rehab is where the client lives during rehab. In inpatient care, they will move into the treatment center full-time, which is often what is meant when somebody says they’re “going away to rehab.” Outpatient treatment may be more flexible, and the person may live in a sober living home or choose to stay home with their family, attending therapy and medical care sessions, support groups and more on a predetermined schedule.

Inpatient rehab

At WhiteSands, we have inpatient programs that usually last 30 to 90 days. If you come to inpatient treatment you can expect to follow a structured daily schedule, with therapy, classes, groups, and more. There is a lunch break and time to exercise in your day, and after around 4:30pm you are free to relax and enjoy the luxury environment.

Outpatient rehab

Our outpatient programs include the partial hospitalization program (PHP), which is usually 5 hours per day, 6 days per week for up to 20 days. This is a highly intensive program with full days of therapy, treatments, groups, and programming that runs much like the inpatient rehab program, except you have the option to live at home or in an external sober residence.

We also have the intensive outpatient program (IOP) which takes place over 3 hours per day, 3 days per week, with therapy and life coach meetings. A case manager will also check in with you every day for 90 days to make sure you are doing well and staying on track. This is a more flexible arrangement that allows you to return to work or school and take care of family and other obligations as you get the help you need.

The Detox Process in DeLand Alcohol Rehab Facilities

Treatment plans for alcohol use disorder usually start with at least a few days in a DeLand medical detox program, as your body adjusts to the lack of alcohol in your system. Because symptoms of alcohol detox can become dangerous to your health, you will live inside the detox center full-time, with medical care, group therapy, and further support from an addictionologist available to you. Nurses check in often to ensure you stay healthy, and you may be given prescription medications to ease any pain, cravings, or discomfort you are having. Acute detox takes 3 to 10 days on average, after which time, you will be ready to start your rehab program.

Therapeutic Approaches and Treatments Available in DeLand

Whitesands’ Deland alcohol rehab program is customized to each person. This means that you may receive treatments and therapies that other people with the same diagnosis may not, depending on your unique level of health, whether you have a mental health disorder, what your background of substance use involves, and what your personal goals for the future entail. We have many types of therapies, groups, and treatments available to choose from, and your program may have some or all of the following:

  • Behavioral therapy like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
  • Evidence-based one-on-one psychotherapy sessions
  • Group therapy, family therapy, couple’s therapy, and peer support groups
  • Contingency management and motivation therapy
  • Healthy living practices, like nutritional health and exercise programs
  • Practical courses in relapse prevention, life skills training, and case management services
  • Dual diagnosis treatment for those with a co-occurring mental illness or trauma
  • Outpatient peer support, therapy, and 12-step groups after inpatient treatment is complete

There are also holistic programs that may be incorporated into your evidence-based treatment plan, with yoga, mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, spa services, and recreation options. These are incorporated to help relieve stress, improve the chances of recovery,  and encourage patients to live a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle.
