Levels of Care
At WhiteSands Treatment Fort Myers, we offer Medically Assisted Detox, Residential Treatment, Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) levels of care. Patients will reside at our 10-acre campus-style facility which features 72 beds within 9 custom-built homes, along with a spa and many other amenities to enjoy. We understand that each patient faces a unique set of challenges in overcoming their struggles which is why we provide comprehensive and all-inclusive individualized treatment. If you require medically assisted detox and residential treatment, we now offer those levels of care at both our Plant City and Fort Myers locations.
No matter what type of treatment patients are receiving at WhiteSands, we are committed to making the journey toward recovery a comfortable one and will provide continued support for patients even after they have completed their program. Patients will receive continued support from our Alumni Group that will check in with patients regularly as well as from ‘Our Helping Hands Hotline’ which is available 24/7.
Medically Assisted Detox [Fort Myers and Plant City locations]: Prior to attending treatment, generally, patients will require a period of medically assisted detox where they will be safely weaned off of the substance of abuse. The process is between four and seven days long and takes place in a controlled and monitored environment where they will receive the care and support needed to detox safely and will be seen by our Medical Director daily.
Residential Treatment: The Residential Program generally lasts 14-21 days with average length of stay being 15 days. During this time, patients will receive 4-5 individual or family sessions per week with their primary therapist and will have daily check-ins with their Life Skills Guide as well. Patients will begin completing a nightly Life Skills Planning worksheet and will begin each day by writing a daily schedule to follow that includes sleep goals, exercise goals, therapy goals, and nutrition goals. Additionally, they will begin completing other assignments in the Life Skills Program. Patients will see medical and psychiatric providers at least one time per week to continue adjusting medications or to address new or ongoing symptoms they may experience and will be evaluated by our nursing staff each day. They will have the option of eating nutritious meals in their patio area with their peers or in the privacy of their own bedrooms and will have nightly access to their personal electronic devices.
Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP): This is a highly-structured day program which includes 5 hours of group per day, 6 days per week and lunch is included. The program consists of various therapy, groups, counseling, and skill-building classes that aim to help you better navigate and manage sobriety. Individuals can reside at their own homes during PHP or within our housing.
Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP): This program is rigorous in nature and is designed for patients’ success in maintaining long-term sobriety. IOP will allow patients to continue their recovery therapy on a part-time basis and is designed to accommodate personal obligations, work, and family life. Some of the different aspects that are covered in IOP are stages of change, trigger management, relapse prevention, and coping mechanisms, among other comprehensive groups that help to foster healthy life skills. Typical IOP programming is 3 days per week, 3 hours at a time and patients will have the option to either reside at home, or in one of our Farr Accredited Recovery Residences.
