Financial Assistance for Addiction Treatment
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have come a long way in a relatively short time as celebrities, companies, and the public have embraced this new form of digital art combined with cryptocurrency.
WhiteSands has partnered with the NFT project Bored Mummy Waking Up to help people with substance use disorder get the financial assistance they need to receive quality addiction treatment at one of their many Florida-based centers. The collaboration aims to increase awareness of addiction and improve access to quality treatment amidst a drug overdose crisis, with drug overdose deaths topping 100,000 within 12 months for the first time in U.S. history.
What Are NFTs?
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) were born out of the growing demand and interest in digital assets. NFTs essentially combine cryptocurrency (blockchain technology) with digital assets, which are unique and non-interchangeable. In the case of the Bored Mummy Waking Up NFTs, the digit asset is art-based, which is then run on the popular Ethereum blockchain, also known as ETH.
NFTs can be traded, treasured, or sold just like other forms of art, and by owning a particular NFT, you own a unique version of the digital file stored on the Ethereum blockchain.
Bringing Hope to Those That Need It Most
A portion of the proceeds from Bored Mummy Waking Up’s newest NFT release will fund quality addiction treatment for those who cannot afford the services they so desperately need to overcome their addiction.
